Promote Your Business: how to choose the right neon sign

Unfortunately there are many business owners that simply purchase something because they think it's a great idea. They don't actually spend the time to do the proper research necessary to make the most out of any new tools. A perfect example of this is when business owners simply purchase a neon sign in the hopes that it will bring more customers into their store. Neon signs can do this but only if you make use of them effectively.

One of the biggest obstacles you will encounter when displaying your new neon sign is to overcome the common belief that neon is tacky. People think this way because many businesses use them so ineffectively. They just throw anything up in the hopes that it will work, or they simply don't think about how to use the neon sign appropriately.

You need to make sure that your sign has a purpose. If it is to inform your potential customers then your neon sign needs to be very easy to read and to understand. It should be very direct and to the point. There is no reason to construct some monstrous animated sign that most people can't stand to even look at since you will end up hurting your business much more than helping it.

Prospects don't want to feel as if they are being taken advantage of. If you use some flashy neon sign to try and grab your prospects attention it will actually end up turning prospects away. They will feel as if you are just trying to grab them and use them and your business will end up looking cheap in the process, certainly not what you're going for.

You need to make sure that your neon sign is very clean and easy to read. Signs that have a lot of animation or that are very intricate will end up turning people away as it will come across as being an eye sore. If this happens people will stop seeing your sign and will only see it as some glowing blob next to your store which does nothing to draw people in.

If you want to use your neon sign to promote brand recognition then you should not try and gussy up the sign in any way. Simply have the sign created so that it contains your business name and possibly your logo. This is all you need. Your prospects will see it day in and day out and it will become part of their long term memory. Then, when they see your business name or logo they may not remember it right away but they will feel as if they are familiar with it. This will make your prospects feel much more comfortable and so will spend more money in your store.

The underlying theme here is that you need to have a very specific purpose for the sign that you are about to purchase. Once you have that purpose you can have the sign designed with a very specific goal in mind. This will make your new neon sign much more effective.
